Dear all,
i have a question regarding the multi mxm board 716553-001.
it has a 8pin power connector. It is capable of 225w when for example 3 slots have been occupiet.
my question is, what is the pin out of this connector? I ve read here in the forum that hp can deliver 150w via 6pin plug.
A normal standard 8 pin pcie plug doesnt work. A 6 pin plug works but dont deliver enough power.
if anyone can help, I would be very thankful.
kind regards

Hi, thank you for your reply, it is a custom build with a corsair sfx 650 psu and an Asus b360 Mainboard. The Card originaly belongt to a hp Server graphics blade
(HP GRAPHICS EXPANSION BLADE PROLIANT WS460C gen 8).
unfortunetly this is no longer existend, so as the power cable which was a 12pin to Dual 8pin cable, if i remember correctly.
kind regards

Thank you for an explanation. Your trying to cobble HP hardware to a different motherboard.
Here is the cable, IMHO it is of little value to you, as the wiring is very explicit. Working backwards from the card, you might be able to figure out the PSU connections.

@wb2001,
thanks again for your reply, I stumbled upon this cable while searching via google.
Somehow I have no idea how to go backwards from card side. Also I’m not shure if yellow is standard 12v as well as black is ground. Even then I don’t know where to wire the sense pin.
My additional thought was the following. I remember that we once had a quadro 6000 installed in the same unit instead of the mxm. But we didn’t change the cable. So if I look at the quadro wiring, shouldn’t it be the same?
When I look at the pinout in terms of squares and rounds, the only difference I see is pin 4 and 8 which have somehow changed compared to a nowadays common 8pin connector.
But that also leaves the question where is ground and where is sense.
Thanks and kind regards

Without first hand knowledge, I must wish you luck. I did chat the supplier, and he did not have an adapter. Go back to the site, and get the part number and link. Suggest you try the HP Enterprise forum (Proliant subforums).
