HP Pavilion All-in-One - 23-q190nl (Touch)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone, yesterday I opened the PC to do a general cleaning and upgraded the RAM memory from 8gb to 16gb (same frequency as the previous one and DDR3). When I start the system, however, windows detects 16gb but only 8 can be used and I don't understand why. I checked in the BIOS and the 16gb of ram is read correctly. The model of my PC is HP Pavilion All-in-One - 23-q190nl (Touch), product number WID05EA#ABZ with AMD A10-8700P CPU that should support the 2 banks I inserted. The frequency of the rams is 1600 like the one previously installed. I tried to figure out how to enable dual channel but without success. How can I try to solve the problem, I've been thinking about it for 2 days.

Thank you so much to everyone!!

Adding an identical module (in all respects) to the original memory module in the SoDIMM slots should result in an upgrade that works.

It is likely that the rank and or the memory timing of the additional memory module does not match the original module.

What are the brand and part numbers on each module?

Specify which is the originally installed module.

Hello, the original form is this:

MT16KTF1G64HZ-169P1

8GB 2RX8 PC3L-149000S-13-13-F3

The two modules I have included instead are these: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01NAXBSIY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't understand why of this error as the ram is recognized by the system.

The problem is likely to be the default CL of 11 with the TIMETEC memory modulke

If you were using an enthusiast motherboard you could have made changes to the primary and secondary timing setting to enable the memory to operate as it should.

Unfortunately that is not the case.

You would be better off sourcing another MT16KTF1G64HZ-169P1 module to add to the original 8GB that was onboard.

An alternative would be to use a memory vendor that guarantees compatibility with your PC and purchase memory form them.

Thank you for your reply. I understood the problem but it seems strange to me. How do you recognize modules and use only 1? If it wasn't compatible, it shouldn't read anything, would it? So I should buy another identical module or leave the initial 8gb without doing anything ...
