@SentinuS,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

You raised an excellent question, and HP made it challenging to provide you with an answer.

According to: HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop PC and: Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com), there is, supposedly, a 500-watt power supply, which is compatible with your desktop:

But what is this 500-watt PSU's part number?

To make an hour+ long story short, to the best of my ability, this 500-watt power supply may be compatible with your desktop. It has one 6+2-pin (8-pin) PCIe power cable, with HP p/n: L89233-001 (L77487-001).

Here is one eBay purchase example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/364201905847?hash=item54cc200eb7:g:uo0AAOSwPfdj2iYu&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4I....

Again, the disclaimer is that I could NOT find HP compatibility confirmation of said power supply, even though I have been fairly competent in finding part numbers.

One way to find out (yea, I have done this a few times for my HP desktop Upgrade projects) is to order this power supply, and if it doesn't work, return to Seller to get your money back.

If anyone else in this Forum/Community knows what the part number is for this elusive 500-watt power supply (let alone where to order it) I would be most interested myself.

Kind Regards,
