HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 27-d0000i (7RC38AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was working on my HP Pavillion 27"AIO (27-d0000i) (P/N 1K0E8AA#aba) with no issue. I left the pc for an hour and came back to find the wireless keyboard (P/N: 928924-001 Rev 0A) was not working but the wireless mouse working as normal. No updates took place during my time away from the computer. The wireless keyboard and mouse came with the AIO and do not have an external receiver. I changed batteries on the keyboard, restarted the computer, went into Device Manager to see if the keyboard drivers needed to be updated (they did not), run the HP Assistant Hardware Diagnostics for the keyboard and it failed (no keys were being recognized when I touched them). Obviously the internal receiver is working fine as it is receiving the wireless mouse signal just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE FROM ORIGINAL POSTER:

SOLVED. As I shared in original post, I had used Device Manager to look at the keyboard driver status. Device Manager showed the 2 keyboard drivers were up to date. In Device Manager I showed 2 keyboards (P/S2 and HID). I then went to View and checked Show Hidden Devices. A third keyboard showed up titled HID Keyboard device and it was grayed out. I selected that one and uninstalled it. I restarted my computer. My keyboard still didn't work. I went back to Device Manager, made sure Show Hidden Devices was checked and only two keyboards were there (HID and P/S2) as I anticipated since I just deleted the one that was originally hidden. I then decided to uninstall the HID keyboard (leaving only the PS2 keyboard driver. I did full shutdown (not restart). Turned computer back on and the non-functional keyboard was suddenly working. I went to Device Manager and the HID keyboard was listed so it apparently reinstalled itself on startup. Oddly enough the computer seemed to start up faster and run faster. Apparently it was a corrupted driver. Hope this helps anyone who has a wireless keyboard/mouse combo with an internal dongle.

hi

since the dongle is internal, this may be complicated
do you have another keyboard mouse kit, with another dongle?

Are you under warranty or is it over?

Thank you for your suggestion. I am prepared to open up the AIO to access the internal dongle (watched the video instructions on how to access). I was just hoping someone else may have had this problem and found it was due to a software issue/update/etc and that could be remedied through new drivers/roll backs/etc...

Since the internal dongle is receiving the mouse signal it makes me think that the physical keyboard electronics have gone bad or the driver for the keyboard got corrupted. Just hoping it was the latter and I could get the keyboard back on line before going and buying a new one with a new/separate USB external dongle.
