AMD Radeon HD 7600A 2GB Mobile Graphics Card - HP 679351-001

I'm trying to install this MXM graphics card, but, all i get on the screen are alternating solid colours, I can't access the bios.

If I remove it, reboot into bios, there are no options to disable the onboard graphics.

i3 3320 processor

8GB ram

128GB MSATA ssd

Thanks for any advice.

I've just looked up the part number again and I belive that is just the heatsink?

On the card itself, the number is 671864-002 , this seems to relate to the AMD Radeon HD 7650A MXM 2GB DDR3 GFX Graphics Card 671864-002.

which should work, shouldn't it?

AMD stopped providing drivers for their HD 7000 series some years ago.

The most current one they have is from 2016, and the released versions are from 2015 -- and these may not work well, if at all, with the current versions of Windows 10.

So, even if you DO get it to boot up and use the card, you will have problems getting drivers for it.

Thanks for the reply,

I understand what you're saying, but, I've never really had any issues, until now, with slightly old tech and windows 10. This whole PC is based on a combination of windows 7 and 8 drivers as it is.

I fear that there may be a fault with the card itself, but I have no way to prove that.

If you can get the PC to boot up with the card in place, you can try running Diagnostics to see if they can check out the graphics.

That should give you some idea if the issue is with the card.

To do that, press the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting.  When the HP Startup Menu appears, select the option to run diagnostics, usually F2.

The problem is that I can't get to the bios, this is why I now suspect  that the card is faulty, this isn't something I've seen before, usually you can get windows to load a basic video driver.
