I would like to raise awareness about an issue affecting certain HP systems equipped with AMD Ryzen processors and AMD fTPM-based TPM 2.0 implementations. I believe this is important because it should not be viewed as a gaming-specific problem.

My system is an HP M01-F3007ns with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. It is currently running the latest BIOS released by HP (F.30 Rev.A, May 2026), yet it still reports AMD TPM firmware version 3.94.0.5.

AMD published Security Bulletin PA-420 regarding a TPM Attestation issue affecting certain fTPM firmware versions:

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/pa-420.html

In this advisory, AMD states that a corrected firmware version was provided to OEMs and motherboard manufacturers, and that deployment of the fix depends on the system manufacturer.

My concern is that this issue is sometimes being described as a gaming-related problem because it is often detected by anti-cheat systems or gaming platforms. However, TPM Attestation is a TPM 2.0 security feature and is not specific to gaming software.

The core issue is not whether a particular game runs correctly. The issue is that AMD has acknowledged a problem affecting certain fTPM firmware versions, a fix has been made available to manufacturers, and some HP systems continue to use affected TPM firmware versions even in recently released BIOS updates.

After more than a year of discussions with HP Support, this is the official response I received:

-------------

"I am (NAMEOFSUPERVISOR), Supervisor of HP Technical Support. This message refers to Case No. XXX, which was opened as a follow-up to the original Case No. YYY.

I have reviewed the case and understand the issue related to the error. I have spoken with the engineering team, and they explained that this unit is fundamentally not designed as a gaming system, and that this error usually appears only on gaming units. After discussing the matter with them, they concluded that, at the present time, there is no solution available because this is not a gaming device; therefore, the team is working on an alternative solution to address this issue.

At this time, we do not have an exact timeline for resolution. However, the engineering team continues to work actively on developing a fix for this type of non-gaming system."

Therefore, HP has officially confirmed that it is aware of the issue, that no solution is currently available for this model, and that there is no estimated date for a resolution.

I would be interested to know whether other HP customers with AMD Ryzen systems are experiencing the same issue and whether HP can provide any additional information regarding the status of a future firmware update.

-------------------

If you are facing the same issue, or if your HP system is affected by the same TPM firmware version problem, please post your experience here and open a support case with HP. By working together and making HP aware of the number of affected customers, we can hopefully encourage the release of an updated firmware solution for our systems.

Greetings,

Yes the AMD B550 or older AMD MBs need a TPM 2.0 manufacturing version update.

HP Forum Administrators and the HP support team have been aware of the AMD TPM 2.0 version problem since 2025. Please see this HP Forum Thread.

Some HP MBs have received a TPM update, some HP MBs have not.

You'll just have to wait it out to see if your MB gets a BIOS update to fix this problem. Check this HP Site for a recent or future BIOS update or wait for a HP Support Assistant BIOS update.

I have a retail AMD B550 MB. The MB OEM has finally (2026) released a BIOS update to fix the TPM 2.0 version problem and the expiring Windows Secure Boot security certificate problem.

I don't work for HP so I cannot tell you if your HP MB will receive the required BIOS update.

Regards
