HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello recently i bought hp 8200 compaq elite sff and im on my way to upgrade it. (i have orderd i7 2600k from ebay) it had i5 2400 before.. (i hope it will work on this pc) and i also have now 16 gb ram instead of 8.. today ive decided to make this pc a mini gaming pc and orderd amd rx 6400 low profile (Sapphire Radeon PULSE RX 6400 XT 4GB)

and now after ordering im reading and seeing some videos and im starting to regret.. the price was good so i orderd this card localy.. but i read that my pc uses pci express gen 2 and this gpu that i orderd is ment for 4 th gen (im not fully understand what im talking about i would like some clearification)  im scared that the gen 2 will screw me.. and make games unplayable also i read that maybe i need to update the bios or something for the card to be reccognized by the pc and i dont know if its true i dont want to update the bios since, ive been told that not all of the bios versions of the 8200 sff support the i7 2600k cpu since its not officialy supported (i found good deal on the 2600k so i orderd it instead of non k 2600 i7  and the k was cheaper too) also i heard that since my bios version is low its good for competibility with the 2600k

i would like to get assistance and clearification.. and maybe even reccomendation for other gpu since i was debating betwin the gtx 1650 or this rx 6400

@Tamirmp4,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

I can put both of your concerns at rest.

No worries: an i7-2600K is compatible with your HP Compaq 8200 SFF, as seen here: HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark, and the RX 6400 is also compatible with your SFF, as seen here: HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Tamirmp4,

And as an FYI: not only is an i7-2600K compatible, the i7-2700K is compatible too: HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

This was also confirmed here: CPU-Upgrade: Intel Core i7-2600K CPU:

An i7-2600 which is listed as a compatible CPU in the HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF manual: c04224518.pdf (hp.com):

has a 95-watt TDP (Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor), as do the i7-2600K (Intel® Core™ i7-2600K Processor) and the i7-2700K (Intel® Core™ i7-2700K Processor).  Meaning, you don't have to upgrade your CPU heatsink/cooling fan combo either.

Hope this was helpful, too.

thanks for the replys but i wanted to ask isnt it better for me to get gtx 1650 instead of the 6400? since i have watched videos and they show that on this card theres a problem that is made for like gen 4 or 3 of pci express

and it will it will take massive preformance hit and will preform like 1050 or something like that i dont know how true it is but i need help with the gpu for sure

@Tamirmp4,

Yes, it would be better because a GTX 1650 has a better graphics performance than an RX 6400: UserBenchmark: AMD RX 6400 vs Nvidia GTX 1650, and, in my opinion, because it is a Nvidia product, not AMD -but that is a different discussion.

yes personally i dont like amd i like nvidia but this amd was so cheap for brand new card plus i had discount on it .. so ye, the 1650 was much more expensive here.. and also i wanted to know , will 1650 get preformance penality because of pci express gen 2? Like the amd card?

@Tamirmp4,

Based on available real-world data, I see no evidence whatsoever that an HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF is penalizing a GTX 1650 -or vice versa:

So should i cancel my amd card order and change it to 1650 instead of the 6400?

HP Recommended

@Tamirmp4,

Yes, I would. As a reminder, make sure you get the low-profile model with the low-profile PCI bracket.
