I have an HP Envy 27 all in one, model # 27-b109. My computer has been randomly going into sleep mode. It will sometimes come back on right away if I press my enter key or click my mouse but other times it won’t come on for a couple of hours. I checked the settings on sleep mode already. When I looked at the back of the monitor, it was incredibly dusty. I am thinking that my CPU might need to be cleaned. I finally found the screws hidden under the little rubber feet and have removed them all. I’m getting a lot of resistance so I don’t know if I’m missing something or if I just need to wedge the knife in and pry harder. Any info on how to get the stand apart would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Alden for taking the time to respond to my post. It was finding all of the hidden screws that was stopping me in the first place. That was what I originally needed help with. I ended up finding all of the hidden screws by peeling away the middle "stickers" 2 layers to reveal more screws. I was able to successfully clean the inside of my computer and I am happy to report that my issue is now resolved.

Hi @Candysweet,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Cleaning the inside of your HP Envy 27 all-in-one computer can help resolve issues like overheating and may improve its overall performance. However, it's crucial to be cautious when opening up your computer, as you can potentially damage components or void warranties if not done correctly. Here are some steps to guide you.
Safety Precautions:
- Ensure your computer is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
- Work in a well-lit, static-free environment.
- Consider wearing an anti-static wrist strap to prevent ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) damage.
Opening the Computer:
- If you're experiencing resistance while removing screws, make sure you've found and removed all the screws.
- Sometimes, the case might have clips or latches that need to be gently pried apart. Use plastic pry tools or a non-metallic object to avoid scratching the surface.
Cleaning the Interior:
- Use compressed air to blow away dust and debris gently. Hold the fans in place to prevent them from spinning while cleaning.
- You can use a small, soft brush (like a paintbrush) to gently clean hard-to-reach areas.
Cleaning the Monitor:
- Clean the monitor screen with a microfiber cloth and screen cleaner designed for electronics. Do not use alcohol-based cleaners or abrasive materials.
Reassembly:
- Ensure all components are dust-free before reassembling.
- Reattach the case by reversing the steps you took to open it.
Powering On:
- After reassembly, plug in your computer and turn it on to ensure everything is working correctly.
Check for Sleep Mode Issues:
- If the sleep mode issue persists, double-check your computer's sleep settings in the operating system (Windows or macOS) to make sure they are configured correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
