I want to install the Samsung 980 Pro SSD into my Z2 G8. This SSD uses a PCIe 4 interface.
The G8 PCIe 4 slot is is completely different.
What kind of adapter is needed to install this SSD into the G8?
TIA

I gather this SSD this needs an open M2 slot that supports SATA (i.e., not the above pictured PCIe slots on the MB.) I cannot locate any info that says definitively if an M2 is present or not in the Z2 G8. HP's manual links for this machine goes to some garbage page.
So, does anyone know if this machine has such a slot?

the hp z2 G8 being a fairly new system will support NVME if it has a M.2 slot for HD's some models may not have the M.2 slot on the motherboard (unlikely but possible)
looking at a pic of the z2 g8 mini tower/SFF motherboard i clearly see the "2280" SSD M.2 slot near the memory sockets
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28ro_nHiSO4
and HP sells a PCI-e Gen 4 M.2 SSD for this model according to the HP quickspecs (part# 223A4AA/AT)
https://www.hp.com/emea_africa-en/products/accessories/product-details/2100435872
you can also add a PCI-e x4 NVME keyed card that has a M.2 connector on it
the card linked below will work in just about any pci-e slot, but a pci-e x4 slot is preferred,
using it in a x1 slot will result in decreased speed and a x8 slot will not give any speed increase
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-NVMe-PCIe-Aluminum-EC-PCIE/dp/B084GDY2PW
from the HP quickspecs on this system you will see that HP offers several SSD cards that are nvme using a M.2 socket
and also a M.2 SSD for insertion into a M.2 nvme slot

The video you reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28ro_nHiSO4 does indeed show exactly how to install/replace an M.2 SSD card on the Z2G8 motherboard - this "chapter" starts at about 4:50 of the video.
Thanks much - I'll give this a try and report back.
