Product: ENVY Desktop-795-0030qd
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just bought a ENVY Desktop-795-0030qd. with 500w power supply, which model is DPS-500AB-32. Want to add 2nd hard drive. I can't figure out how to connect to the stanard sata power adapter on the hard drive. Need help.

@jh45,

The problem is the unique Berks motherboard SATA power headers. 

1)  The top header is 8 pins.  It supplies power to the 3.5" hard drive and the DVD drive.

2) The bottom header is 6 pins.  It is not available in the USA, as yet.  This usually powers additional 3.5" hard drives.

 

Suggestion:

1) you might try a SATA power splitter from the first drive.

2) if you go that route, you need HP BLue Insolation screws to mount the hard drive.

 

Some good reading with pics:

Shows an actual added hard drive. and the cabling

Isolation screws allows drive to slide into locking position

Thanks for your quick reply. Is it possible to make the coonnector myself? Do you have the the specs of the pins of power supply  DPS-500AB-32, or the specs of the pins of the 6pin sata power header on the motherboard?
