@Jay69696969,

Thank you for checking it out: apparently you got the Mentali2 motherboard (SSID: 8D35), which is actually outstanding news, because this motherboard got two SATA data ports, each good for any capacity SATA HDD/SSD you want to use, provided you can find space to install them.

Just as an FYI: you can use Zip-ties or Velcro tape to secure each SATA drive inside your case (such as on top of your power supply, etc.) -trust me: applied this improvisation many times before myself.

And don't forget you'll need this 4-pin motherboard power output to SATA 15-pin power cable (p/n: L68308-001) in order to power one or two SATA SSDs/HDDs.  You can purchase this power cable online, such as this eBay purchase option: L68308-001 Hp Cable Sata Pwr 1K0G3AA | eBay.

@Jay69696969,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

An HP OmniDesk Desktop PC (such as the M02-0xxx series) only has one M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSD slot and one M.2 Wi-Fi module slot, which is only good for a Wi-Fi module.

However, if your OmniDesk is fitted with the Grady2 motherboard with SSID: 8D32 you are in business, because it means that you got one SATA SSD slot which you can use to add a secondary SATA SSD for storage -see this related link: Re: 4 pin sata power cable for hp omnidesk - HP Support Community - 9515883. You can check by typing: System Information in your lower Windows search bar, click on System Information, and look to the right of: "BaseBoard Product": if it says 8D32, you got the Grady2 motherboard.

Kind Regards,

Hello and thanks for the reply! My id says 8D35 is that close enough? Is there any add-on's I can get as my original PC has a 14TB hdd, so the onboard 2TB is far insufficient and I'd rather not have a lot of external dongles hanging off my computer. Kids can think they're toys and rip them off and damage them, rather have it inside the pc.

Thanks for all your assistance.

Thanks so much, I found the adapter. Can I install my 3.5 hard drive or do I need to get an ssd.  An I install 2, without replacing the existing 2tb ssd?

Also do you know if the MB USB ports are 3.2? I see varying answers.

Thanks always.

@Jay69696969,

You can install any capacity SATA HDD and/or SATA SSD you want.  SSDs are faster of course, but even I use high capacity (8GB) HDD drives because they are cheap, and as secondary tertiary storage drives I/O speed is not too important to me.

Yes, you can add your HDD(s), and it won't affect your primary (boot) M.2 NVMe SSD one single bit.

The Mentali2 motherboard link I provided tells you what USB gens you got:

Front I/O ports:

(2) USB 3.2 Gen 2.0 Type-A ports; 10 Gbps signaling rate
(2) USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-A ports; 5 Gbps signaling rate
(1) USB 3.2 Gen 2.0 Type-C port; 10 Gbps signaling rate
(1) USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; 5 Gbps signaling rate

Back I/O ports:

(4) USB 2.0 Type-A ports

Kind Regards,
