I bought HP Pavilion 24-b217d AIO Desktop recently. I was not satisfied with the basic hard disk which is already installed so I want to add a ssd. The specs says Palau-UF motherboard has One M.2 slot for SSD. Does that mean that I can add one ssd and I can use both the hard disk and the new ssd together or I can use one ssd instead of the original hard disk?

@Kyle12
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see you need help in upgrading the SSD, on HP Pavilion 24-b217d All-in-One Desktop PC.
Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.
After reading your post, I did go through the
Product specification of your product and found that you have 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive installed on the PC.
As its a build with less customization, adding an extra hard drive will not be possible.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

Greetings Kyle12,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
You are correct. Your MB sports a M.2 socket capable of running a NVME PCIe 3.0x4 bootable storage drive. Check the length from the socket to the last mount point. HP does not specify the maximum drive length. The common size is 2280. But your MB may only support up to a 2242 or a 2260 drive.
So, you can then install the OS on the SSD and use the existing SATA drive for data and large programs such as games.
This upgrade will vastly improve your PC's performance.
