Hi,
I have the above spec up envy desktop.
I need additional storage, a second hdd or if possible a second ssd.
Is this possible? What are the options, please?
Thanks
Peter

The size limit is what Windows supports. SSDs larger than 2tb are much more expensive than HDD of same size. I recommended SSD as they are plastic, small and can be hung anywhere there is space and not need a fan to cool.
You have a good system. Your RTX supports CUDA which is used by a lot of media apps such as Adobe premier, DVDFab, Nero and others. I moved my media from external Stardom enclosures to a Synology NAS a few years ago. I found that moving large files to/from USB3 could make my PC almost unresponsive during the data transfer. This problem did not occur with hardwired ethernet to the NAS. Also, windows 11 seems to have a problem ejecting attached USB drives. I can get a message the the drive is busy and cannot be ejected but when I look at the drive the busy LED indicates nothing is happening.

use your serial number and product id at this site to possibly find your motherboar name.
here are some commmon consumer systems with power supply references
TE motherboards can be rother or baker
Both of these have only one slot for M.2 SSD type drives
The baker motherboard does not have an HP photograph that I can easily find but I looked at a picture on eBay and the photo shows the same number of SATA connectors as the Rother motherboard. There are three available.
You can check and see what you have using the WMIC command
Also, using the windows command prompt, please run the following command and report back what it reveals
wmic diskdrive get model, size, mediaType, status |
for example
Let me know if this answers your question.

You should be able to easily add and SATA drive and I recommend SSD such as Western Digital Blue 2tb
It will be faster then the HDD but not as fast as the M.2
If you do a lot of gaming and run steam, you can relocate the game database and imagery on the HDD easily using the steam library to re-install but specify the HDD. The games, history and accounts all stay on the C drive. Of they could be relocated to the "E" if that was the new 2tb Western Digital SSD.
There may be firmware updates for the Samsung

Thanks, just to check...are you saying put an ssd in rather than a hdd? Can I add both? Is there a size limit on ssds and hdds for this PC?
I don't game, but am a photographer, with increasing video production, which eats disk like crazy!
Thanks for your support and quick response.

Thank you.
I have exactly the same issue...mouse moves slowly/randomly when transferring large video files ...disk i/o remains high for awhile after completing. Also have issue ejecting us drives.
Best regards
