Hello!
Sorry, I dont know what you mean about "Open drive bay". I try to figure out...

Your system on C:\

I think your recommended solution to free up space on C:\ Drive to move your data (pictures, videos, games,) to other HDD on your pc. This omen can store 2 HDD in same time, maybe you need an extra sata cable for this.

When you have HDD (by default) in your Omen Desktop,

you can move your C:\ProgramFiles to D:\ (your HDD: D:, E:, or something else).

EASUS documentation will help you:
https://www.easeus.com/pc-transfer/safely-transfer-programs-from-c-drive-to-d-drive-in-windows-10.ht...

OR When you install game from Steam, or Epic/other game launchers, you can choose where you want to install games.

You can't move your whole system to other partition, just with special tools.
This is a complicated and unsafe method, so I think follow the below instructions.

I do not recommend to extend your C:\ drive with other ssd or hdd  with raid because decrease your system stability.
When one raid disk hurts, your whole system can be useless.

I hope I could help! ❤️

Hi,

I have an extra bay in my case where a harddrive can be installed.

Current setup:

My C drive is an SSD that is M.2

I have one D drive that is SATA

I have another unused open bay or slot that is also SATA.

Can I install a new drive in the unused slot and make that my C drive?

I use programs that need to be installed on C drive and they have filled it up.

C: is system drive. Taken letters not able to change.

You need to reinstall your whole system to make C: drive your new storage.

Windows required an SSD storage, and system ssd best place on primary Storage slot on motherboard.

Better and faster option is to move your data from C to Other storage.
When you add new HDD/SSD to your pc, first of all you need to allocate storage on disc.

1. power off pc.
2. Install new storage.
3. Boot to windows.
4. Right click on Start menu, select "Disk manager" option.
5. Right click on black "Unallocated" space, Allocate, and add a new driver letter as "E:\"  or ther. 1. C:\  2. D:\  3. E:\ by default.
6. You can windows to move  C:\ProgramFiles folder to other storage disk. C:\ProgramFiles contain Games, and eat lot of space on your disk.

I don't think the applications I need will run from a different drive than the C drive.  It would be great if they would! But I've tried installing them on the D drive and they have numerous errors and problems with paths.

So sounds like I need to backup or clone my C drive onto a different drive and replace the M.2 primary C drive with a larger drive. Then install the backup onto the new SSD.  Does that sound correct?

Do you know of compatible M.2 SSD drives to replace the current drive?
