I am looking to purchase Pavilion AIO 27 xa0050. I would also at some point like to add a m.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drive. However this desktop is so new that I cannot find any information on the "interwebs" about how to remove the back to access the motherboard. It looks like HP just launched it in August. When I look at the specs it says it has a slot for it, so I know it can be done. In fact I think the spot is currently holding the 16gb of Intel Optane memory. Because of all the research I have been doing I know doing this upgrade would be a huge improvement for startup and such. Is there anywhere on the site to find out how to disassemble it so I can make this upgrade? I can find all kinds of stuff on YouTube for older models but this is the newest model.

The following link shows its specs
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06143442
Motherboard has
- One M.2 socket 1, 2230 type for WLAN
- One M.2 socket 3, 2280 type for SSD
but they are all occupied now. the first one is for wifi card and the second one is for 16 GB PCIe NVMe 3D Xpoint M.2 Solid State which (I believe) is for Intel® Optane™ Memory.
No room for you to add. I beleive you can remove 16GB and add larger (capacity) M.2 SSD but you are much better wait because the machine is so new, people have not had a chance to play around with Optane™ and wihout Optane™.
Regards.

Thank you Banhien.
I was planning on trying it for awhile as is. I would just like to know ahead of time how easy or difficult it will be to access the motherboard. I see some of the earlier models are relatively easy to access where others are much harder.

I decided to get the Pavilion All In One 24" r114 instead. According to HP it is was originally built in April of '18 versus August of '18 for the XZ0050 I was going to get. So not much difference in age. It also has all the same specs except it doesn't come with the Optane and also has a built in DVD Drive. It was almost $200 cheaper and I then ordered a 250Gb Samsung 970 EVO M.2 PCIe drive for $89. There is plenty of data out there on how to dissasemble the r114 to change out drives or add the EVO memory.
