Z2 mini G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I've just purchased a Z2 mini G4 (Performance, with no discrete graphics) but I have a question that it could make me thinking of returning the device... I've asked to UK technical support but apparently they are too busy (and US technical support are not allowed to answer due I live in UK).

The Z2 mini G4 that I've purchase has only 1 displayport available. The box is ready for up to 3 displayport connections, but the other 2 are covered by plastic (they're typically available if purchasing a "performance with discrete graphic" model)... I've could add a dedicated graphic card (there are some tutorials of how replace the graphics card, so I guess it would be the same)...but in order to uncover the displayport connectors, it seems necessary to disassemble the whole computer (including the motherboard). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I would like to know whether this operation is something I can ask to UK HP service to do or whether is something that it could only be done in the moment of originally assembling the Z2 mini.

If it's doable, I'll like to know also whether or not that process would void the warranty (and, if possible, an estimation of the costs).

Thank you very much in advance!

@Danpry , welcome back to the forum.

I can't find any information on the HP Product Specifications page about adding a MXM graphics card.  However, I did find an excellent video provided by HP on replacing the card:

I have come to the conclusion that it is best to order the computer with the graphics card installed.  I suggest that you contact the HP Service Center nearest to you to see if they have the cards and can install it for you.

Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Thanks for your time @Old_geekster. Yes I saw those videos too before purchasing the computer (it was one of the reasons to choose the computer actually).

As I can see on https://support.hp.com/gb-en/service-center apparentelly there is no any HP Service Centers in UK (not for computers at least), that's quite confusing actually... that's why I originally e-mail them instead (still not having reply from them, I guess they should be busy with covid... )

Now I can not longer return the computer, so purchasing it with graphics card is not an option.

Let's see if someone else can provide some more info whether related to the original question or regarding the HP Serivice Centers in London.
