My desktop has 12GB of factory installed RAM, and I need to add more.  It's using 2 of 2 slots.  Is this possible, and if so what RAM is recommended?

You can install 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2666 MHz CL19 memory, or 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory that will automatically bridge to 2666 MHz.

Memory is very expensive nowadays due to the memory chip shortage.

Two of either of these 16 GB chips should work in your PC:

Crucial 16GB DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) UDIMM 288-Pin Memory - CT16G4DFRA266 at Amazon.com

Timetec 16GB DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 2Rx8 Dual Rank 288 Pin UDIMM Deskto...

You could also remove the 4 GB chip and install an 8 GB chip instead.

Or you can remove the 4 GB chip and just buy one of the 16 GB chips for now and hope the memory prices come down in a year or two.

Timetec Premium 8GB DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 1Rx8 Single Rank 288 Pin UDI...

Back in January, those 16 GB chips would have been around $35.
