HP Desktop PC M01-F3000a (6G6E5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a new M01-F3224 Desktop that I purchased for someone else.  I have upgraded the PSU and installed a graphics card.  I noticed there are some pre-installed drive cables.  However, I tried to connect a Samsung SSD 850 EVO, but it did not appear when I powered on the computer.  Am I missing something or are these cables not for power?  I cannot locate a manual on the motherboard since it is proprietary.  The ports on the motherboard are labeled SATA0 (P60), SATA2 (P62), and HDD SATA PWR (P161).  Thank you in advance.

@Gunny88,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

You want to use either the SATA0 (P60) or the SATA2 (P62) data ports:

You also want to provide power to your Samsung SSD 850 EVO by using a 15-pin SATA power cable.

Your SSD should show up, if it doesn't, type in: disk management in your Windows search bar, and click on: "Create and format hard disk partitions".  Let me know if your PC detects your drive there.

Kind Regards,
