Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

From what I've researched so far I have to choose between an M.2 SSD that supports either a PCIe interface or a SATA interface.  The motherboard on my Pavilion 690-0020 has both PCIe & SATA ports separatly from the M.2 SSD slot, so I think both type are compatible with my machine...  Is that a correct assumption?  If not, which SSD interface does the M.2 slot on my specific hardware support?

If both are compatible, which would you use and why?  If I understand correctly the primary difference other than form factor is the PCIe SSD have much faster read and write speeds than SATA.

@JimmyTheKid,

The safe route is what works.  Here are suggested options.  You can keep within the specs.

Thanks for your response.  I guess I'm more interested in a NVMe SSD, which would require a PCIe interface.  I was able to get ahold of a supervisor on an HP tech support team and we're pretty sure this machine can run that type drive...  So I ordered a CORSAIR FORCE Series MP510.  I won't receive it before sometime next week, but I will update this to let anyone else in the same situation know how it works out.
