Hi @AZCharlie01,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can add an internal Blu-ray drive to many HP Pavilion desktop PCs, but there are a few important things to check first to ensure compatibility and a smooth installation.

Checklist Before Installing an Internal Blu-ray Drive

1. Check for a 5.25" Drive Bay

  • Most Blu-ray drives are 5.25-inch SATA optical drives.
  • Open your PC case and look for an empty 5.25" bay (usually at the front).
  • If your Pavilion is an All-in-One model, it likely does not support internal optical drives; you’ll need an external USB Blu-ray drive instead.

2. Check for SATA Power and Data Connectors

  • Your motherboard should have:
    • An available SATA data port
    • A SATA power connector from the power supply

3. Operating System Support

  • Windows 10/11 supports Blu-ray drives, but does not include Blu-ray playback software.
  • You’ll need third-party software like CyberLink PowerDVD, VLC (with plugins), or Leawo Blu-ray Player.

4. Driver Installation

💡 If You Have an HP Pavilion All-in-One PC

If your model is like the HP Pavilion All-in-One 24-b109, it does not support internal optical drives. In that case:

Use an External Blu-ray Drive

  • Connect via USB 3.0 for best performance.
  • Choose a drive that supports BD-R, BD-RE, and dual-layer discs if needed.
