HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-1000i (1K4E8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Belkin F5U220 USB expansion card and was wondering if it will work in my HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-10001(1K4E8AV). The connector on the card is shorter than the large PCI expansion slot on the motherboard. The expansion slots available are 1 PCIe x16; 1 PCIe x1 according to the specs. I am afraid to plug it into the motherboard connector since the card connector is shorter than the motherboard connector, but it appears the "key slot" on the expansion card matches with the motherboard connector,

It is a very old adapter. It User Guide shows:

System Requirements
  • PC-compatible computer with available PCI slot.
  • Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP

The PCIe x1 slot on your machine should work. The PCIe x 16 slot is for a video card which won't physically fit.

Thanks for the reply. The Belkin USB card won't plug into the small PCIe x1 connector, as the edge card connector is too long (about 3 1/4 inches/ 8cm.). But it does appear that it would plug into the PCIe x16 connector, but would leave a portion of the motherboard PCIe x16 connector open. That is why I am concerned about plugging it into that one.

I read its User Guide (document p75241ea_f5u220ea.pdf) could be it does NOT use standard PCIe. The UserGuide only says PCI, not PCIe.
