I am trying to add an additional 2.5 SSD to my Omen 30L desktop, but when the disk is attached to either of the available SATA cables (P5 or P6) inside the computer I am met with a hard disk error (3f1) immediately at power on. If I remove the SSD again the error goes away.
The SSD is a Crucial MX500 1TB (6Gb/s). I know that the drive works, since I am able to connect it using a USB3-SATA3 cable and copy files to and from the drive.
Any pointers to help me get the drive working would be greatly appreciated.

@martin210 , welcome to the Community.
You need a SATA power cable from the PSU and a SATA data cable to connect to an extra SATA port on the motherboard. If you are using it for storage, once it is running, you can go into Disk Management and right click on the drive and select "Mark Partition as Active".

Hi @Old_geekster and thanks for your input.
The SATA power cables are the cables marked P5 or P6 that are already in the computer. As for the SATA data cable there is also one extra cable already in the computer. I have tried with both of the power connectors along with the SATA data cable. Since I wrote the original message I have also tried moving the SATA data cable on the motherboard to the "SATA 2" connector. When I do this, the error message changes from (3F1) to (3F3).
On the error screen there is an option to run system diagnostics by pressing F2. When I go there and start the disk check diagnostic it does not list the additional SSD, only the built-in disk and all tests for this disk pass.
Is there any chance this issue might be related to UEFI secure boot or maybe the fact the the BIOS setting for "SATA Emulation" was set to "Raid" from the factory. I have tried changing the "SATA Emulation" setting to "AHCI", but I am not sure if I need to reinstall the OS for this change to take effect?

Thank you for the additional information, @martin210!
I suggest that you contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to see if they can help you! They are the experts on their products.
