Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking a the Upgrade and Servicing manual I downloaded, it looks like there is a port for an SSD drive near the RAM as well as the connection for the HDD.  Can you ADD an SSD stick in addition to the HDD or does one replace the other ?

 

Has anyone done this and does it improve the speed much ?

I will link the Crucial page only as a reference.  Take note of the individual specifications and  the notches (Type M and type B+M).

The speed offered is no better than a standard hard drive. Now, ponder the Samsung EVO pro 970 speeds.

You will note that I did not say purchase from either. I said LOOK at the specification, notches, and speed. I now you can shop it and fins better prices.

In your scenerio, IMHO, if you can get it to be a boot device in BIOS, (that is the question),  a 500GB is ideal. Then use the original HD as a data device.
