I am trying to add an Asus PCE-N15 Wireless N adapter to the PCIe x1 slot. The board does not appear to be recognised in BIOS as I get no errors or added hardware messages in Windows Device Manager. Is there a compatability issue or is it likely to be a faulty card?

@MHoyle, welcome to the forum.
I don't believe that there should be a compatibility problem with the adapter. The only thing that I can think of is, did you install the necessary software for it? If so, I suggest that you contact ASUS's Tech Support for help. They are the experts on their products and should be able to help you fix the problem.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Thanks for the suggestion. It was Asus Technical Support that suggested the possibility of a compatibility issue:
"Thank you for your email.
Does it show up in the BIOS of the system under the PCIE slot?
As if it does not show, the system is not recognizing the card
Which is usually:
1. Motherboard does not see it/ not compatible/BIOS setting mismatch
2. Faulty PCE card
Does it appear to get power?
Kind Regards,

I have tried the network card in an old PC running also Windows 10 64 bit - it appeared immediately and didn't even need the software as it has native Windows 10 drivers - it runs fine in that PC but isn't recognised in the new PC.

You are welcome, @MHoyle. Thank you for the additional information.
After reviewing the specs for the adapter again, the only thing that I can see that may present a problem is, Win 10 is not listed as a compatible operating system. I didn't see that the first time. While this would be strange, I have seen it happen in the past with other products. Make certain that Win 10 is fully updated to see if that helps.

Thanks again.
The Windows 10 installation was fully updated before I inserted the network card. The box claims Windows 10 and Linux are supported - and the native drivers for Windows 10 in the other PC suggest that there is no compatibility issue with Windows. I can only conclude the problem is with HP.
