HP ENVY Desktop PC TPE01-3000i (4M0M1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Purchased a Asus GeForce GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 HDMI DVI Graphics Card for my HP Envy TPE01-3254 desktop and after installing the new video card, they system didn't display anything:

---once installed system would not boot or display on monitor using the on-board HDMI port or the NEW video cards HDMI
---removed card, system booted and displayed as expected
---downloaded software from Asus site - would not install because card was not present

So the card is defective or I need to do something with the Device Manager prior to installing the card. What steps should I take prior to installing a NEW video card?  Considering a replacement GT 1030 or switching to a GForce GTX 1650.

There have been HP Envy products with PCI video cards preinstalled so why would this be any different.  The power supply I believe is about 310 watts more than enough to drive this lower end graphics card(s).

Hi:

The only thing I can think of other than the video card being defective would be that you need to go into the BIOS and disable the Secure boot setting, and you shouldn't have to be doing that, since the card is supported by PC's with UEFI BIOS' such as yours, but you may want to give that a try before returning the card for a refund.

See this link for more information regarding video cards and secure boot:

Thanks.  The link seems to explain the behavior. Appreciate the help. I sent the card back as I was able to use the on-board VGA & HDMI ports with my HP 2509m monitors.  So for now the issue with dual monitor support has been resolved but will look at a different video card in the near future.. this information will help with that installation.
