I have a HP Victus 15L with a 500w psu. Is there any way to upgrade my psu to something higher like an 850w. The reason I need to upgrade the psu is to get a new graphics card something like the rtx 4070ti.

@stickmanm,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

An HP Victus 15L is a good starter gaming PC, budget oriented.

You may get a hunch where this is going.

Even if there was an 850-watt power supply for this PC -and I couldn't locate any, the issue you would be running into -in a nutshell, is that in combination with a high-end GPU such as an RTX 4070 Ti, this desktop wasn't designed to handle the heat.

Please verify that your 500-watt power supply has HP p/n: L89233-001 "SKO-PSU 500W MT WS20 EPA90".

The only power supply I was able to dig out that may -please note: emphasis on 'may', be compatible, because of the proprietary HP 7-pin "P2" color coding power connector, is the HP p/n: L36049-003 (L57253-003) "HP Z2 G4 Power Supply 650W DPS-650AB-30A".

Here are the aforementioned power supplies side-by-side -and you can see the problem:

Indeed, the 650-watt power supply is quite a bit larger than the 500-watt power supply.  I am not sure if this PSU would even fit inside your case.  Regardless, if you want Gaming Power -so much more power to you, but it wouldn't be worth the expenses to deal with a 15L.  Trust me.

You would be better off getting an OMEN 40L, or something.  A much better investment of your money, time, and efforts.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
