@selfdestrukt,

Assuming your HP ProDesk 400 G6 Small Form Factor got the 180-watt power supply (please verify), this can be upgraded to a 210-watt power supply with p/n: L70043-002 (L70043-004).  You can purchase one of these power supplies for around $30 via eBay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=L70043-002+&_sacat=0&_from=R40&LH_PrefLoc=1&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1.

With this upgraded power supply, you could power one of these Low-Profile model graphics cards, from lower to better graphics capabilities: RX 550, Nvidia Quadro P1000 and the RX 6400.

You can upgrade your RAM to 2x16GB of DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks such as this quality/affordable ($41) 2x16GB Dual Rank (2Rx8) RAM kit sold via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-2600MHz-PC4-20800-Unbuffered-Non-ECC/dp/B07CQ8FJXB/ref=sr_1_4?crid=23....

Your i7-9700 is a fine processor, but if you want to spend money on it, you could upgrade it to an i9-9900.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
