I'm not getting any response from 2 monitors I am trying to extend to via my Mocbook using the display ports on the Thunderbolt 120w docking station. I have downloaded and installed the Displaylink Manager software but it does not show in the USB System Report.

Can anyone offer any help here?

Hi @Marlie23,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set up dual monitors on your MacBook using an HP Thunderbolt dock, follow these steps.

Verify Connections:

  • Ensure that your monitors are correctly connected to the Thunderbolt dock using the DisplayPort or HDMI ports.
  • Confirm that the dock is securely connected to your MacBook via the Thunderbolt cable.

Check Dock Compatibility:

  • Verify that the HP Thunderbolt dock supports dual monitors and that the DisplayLink Manager software is compatible with your macOS version.

Install DisplayLink Manager:

  • If you haven’t already, download the latest version of DisplayLink Manager from the DisplayLink website.
  • After installation, restart your MacBook.

Check System Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Displays.
  • Click the Arrangement tab to see if the monitors are detected and arrange them as needed.
  • If you don’t see the monitors, try clicking Detect Displays while holding the Option key.

Update Software:

  • Ensure your macOS is up to date by going to System Preferences > Software Update.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for the dock.

Check DisplayLink Manager:

  • Make sure that DisplayLink Manager is running. You should find it in the menu bar.
  • If it’s not visible, open the application from the Applications folder.

Verify USB System Report:

  • Open System Information (Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report).
  • Check under USB to see if the dock is recognized. It might be listed under a different category such as Thunderbolt.

Reset SMC and PRAM:

  • Sometimes resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and PRAM/NVRAM can resolve display issues.
  • For instructions, check Apple’s support documentation based on your MacBook model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4

I have painfully gone through your suggestions for troubleshooting Dispalylink Manager unfortunately with no success. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Displaylink Manager which again appears in my toolbar at the top of the screen but I notice under the Display Toggle it says no "Displaylink enabled display is detected." I also cannot see it listed in the System Report.

I am clearly missing a trick here. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
