I have an old MS-7525 mobo that I was thinking of making in to a stand alone system running win98/SE/ME to play old win95/98 games natively but since HP no longer supports these mobos its really hard to find drivers.  Has anyone tried to do something like this and is it worth the trouble?  I tried using VM / DOS box but some old games will simply not play

Hi:

From the information I could find the motherboard was used in the HP Compaq dx2390 Microtower PC which still has driver support.

OEM MSI MS-7525 VER:1.0 (Boston-GL6) - Specs | Manual | Drivers | BIOS | Download (soggi.org)

As you can see from the list of drivers available, the motherboard was never supported by HP for anything older than Windows XP.

Thanks for the info, I guess I have to look for something a little older for a Win98 system

You're very welcome.

I don't know how much money you want to spend but I recommend that you look into an old Dell Optiplex GX260 tower which has driver support for Windows 98.

That is the newest PC I can think of that where you can still find support for W98:

Hi Paul, Thanks for the recommendation, I'll take a look on ebay to see if anything is worth the trouble/cost.  So funny that I remember working on those GX260/270 systems while I was the computer administrator / design engineer for the entire engineering section (about 125 systems) back in the 1990's.

You're very welcome.

Yes, I remember them too, starting with the old Optiplex GXa's, when our company had a contract with Dell, and we had them all the way to the GX270's, then switched to HP.

I remember buying an off-lease GX260 on eBay for around $130 years ago.

I buy both Dell and HP desktop business PC's for my personal use.
