Hi all, recently I have bought one older Prodesk 400 G1 microtower PC. After few days of running the PC I realized that the automatic fan speed control does not work properly, both for CPU as well as for rear fan. The fans still go continously the same speed in idle as in full load. I don't know what should I do, I tried almost everything. Both fans are 4-pin PWM's. In BIOS there is only an option to set up the lowest fan speed level ant that is all. This works properly, but then the fans still run that speed. I tried to find out the fan speeds using SpeedFan or Argus monitor, but without succes. There is no chance to get to information about RPM for both programs, or the chip which is responsible for that is not available for OS, or I don't know. Can someone help me, please?
Thank you very much,
Jan

As long as you do not have an overheating problem in full load...i think you dont need to worry about fan speeds...
You can only see the fan speed rpm in BIOS ...no other utility will show you as motherboard is HP proprietary.

Hello, thank you for your reply. The idea you mentioned is fine, but when you have about 70 °C or almost 80 °C in full load (tested using Prime95 with stock cooler), it is not so "healthy" for the processor, I think. Normally the temperature is about 60 °C when working, but having constant RPM all the time is not a solution. I tested it also in different version of OS (under Windows 7), but nothing changed.

Yes i know what you mean....70-80C in full load is high but not as high as mine....I am having 82-84C with 60-70% load....I dont bother to test it with Prime95 as it gets to more than 94 C then it throttles...
Well i posted my thoughts here about that...and on Intel site too...so as long as its below T Junction temp which is 100...they say its all good.
