I have a Pavilion 590-p0086 Desktop computer. I purchased a Samsung SSD 980 with the intention to use it as my primary drive and to use the Hard Drive for storage. I used the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Program to disable Optane. The program immediately said the Optane Device was disabled but it did not take the 20 minutes that several YouTube videos said that it would. (This computer is an I-7.) Opening the Intel Rapid Technology program now shows the Optane memory status is disabled. After disabling the Optane I opened the BIOS to remove Optane from the BIOS. There was no way to remove the Optane Drive from the BIOS, but the BIOS did show that the Optane Drive was disabled. I Installed the Samsung SSD 980 after physically removing the Optane drive. I used the Samsung Data Migration tool to copy all data from the C Hard Drive to the new SSD 980 D Drive. “This PC” shows both drives are present and that the data successfully copied. The SSD is properly initialized.
I was able to change the Boot Order in the BIOS so that the Samsung SSD loads first. I would like to use the SSD as the primary drive and the Hard Drive that came with the computer as the storage drive. Booting the computer is very fast, but the C Drive is loaded as the primary drive. (Opening any folder shows that the C drive is being used.)
In the Advanced section of the BIOS the Intel Rapid Storage Technology shows the Hard Drive where the Optane drive was formerly shown.
In the BIOS I have attempted to make the SSD operate as the primary drive. (BIOS, Storage, Device Configuration, move arrow, Enter, F10, Escape) After exiting the BIOS the system loads using the SSD but makes the C drive operate as primary.
How can I set the computer to make the SSD as primary and the HD as storage?

hi
I did the same type of manipulation, but an older computer and with sata 2.5 crucial in replacement of a hdd
which I can't seem to follow here, because you say drive C
off, having made a complete copy of my old hdd, to the SSD, the latter therefore had the mention of drive C as well!
but have you tried not to connect the HDD player, and to restart only with the M2
on my computer, I had disconnected the HDD, connected the SSD instead, then restarted, so it had worked normally, then I reconnected the HDD!
the os C ssd drive, and the hdd drive, then became OS ( h )

Hello,
Thank you for responding to my problem. I disconnected the Hard Drive & restarted the machine. The SSD worked great. I was surprised to learn that Windows 10 decided to rename the SSD as the “C Drive”. While setting up the SSD I used Windows 10 Disk Management to name the SSD “D Drive”. Windows decided the rename both drives. I guess this shouldn’t be shocking as one time Windows decided that I should change my primary printer from a LaserJet to an inkjet printer (probably to send me ink advertising.) My computer is working great. The SSD is the primary drive (labeled C Drive) and the Hard Drive can be used for storage and is labeled D Drive.
Thanks again,
