I have a notice on HP Support Assistant for a RECOMMENDED installation of BIOS Update(ROM Family SSID 8446).  I have an HP Desktop computer, it's 2 years old.

Because it doesn't say it's an IMPORTANT ACTION, do I really have to try to install it.  After reading several posts on this forum with so many people  having encountered problems trying to install these BIOS updates, I'm very hesitant to do so.  Also, I've had problems myself in the past with trying to install BIOS updates.  What I gather from reading lots of HP info online, it's not necessary to install these recommended BIOS updates if our computers are working well and my computer is working excellently.  Thanks so much for any feedback anyone can offer.

Hello.
If you want and want, you can update the bios for security improvements, support etc, however I have seen that the BIOS updates sent by Windows update are not a danger.

Thanks for your reply, Gold_Master.  Because my computer is working excellently, I'm adhering to that good, old saying ~ If it ain't broke, don't fix it 😏
