Hi Everyone
I have a Compaq SG3-220UK, a 10-year-old box with 2gig of ram, It was my inlaws box, they are sadly gone now and the PC is in the hands of my kids, if they want it. the PC has been upgraded from Win 7 (default build) to Win10 (not recommended on the spec.) I can throw another 2gig of ram at it but windows will struggle. Enough of that.
What I would like to know is, can the BIOS be flashed to a level that the machine will boot from USB rather than the CD/DVD
Like a more modern PC/Laptop. I have a few Linux Distros on USB but no CD/DVD's to copy to. Yes I could go buy some disks but who sells just one and a stack of them are going to be a dust collector. Just re-read this, I guess I need a disk CD/DVD to do the flash if it's actually available. I may have an old RW-DVD somewhere. Would that work to flash the BIOS? if not it will possibly work to re-do the OS to Linux.
Okay rambling over, the short story is can the BIOS on this old box be flashed and if so how?
Best Regards

Cheers Lil Boy Blue
I will skip the BIOS update, it's not worth the effort if it's not available via mainstream support. The risks of dubious third party firmware is a no go.
Thanks for the advice
