Trying to upgrade Touchsmart 600 1120 to max supported processor and add video card. Purchased video card and processor that is supported by motherboard but PC won't start. I get flashing color screens when I turn on. From what I have read updating BIOS can possibly resolve issue. HP no longer has link to BIOS

Hello
So what exactly did you upgrade your computer to?
And in order to check if this is not the video card, have you tried without at least?
Nothing says that an update of the bios will solve the problem, the graphics card, could be defective
the equipment purchased is new?

Processor is an i7 720QM Quad Core. But required a video card to be installed since it does not have an on board graphics like the installed i3. The video card purchased is a GT230 1GB.
When I add the video card and power on screen flashes from grey, black, Blue, and a 4 stripped RED, GreeN, BLUE, screen.
Hope I can figure out how to get the machine to boot off video card and then install processor and have boot up with both installed.
Looking at the Touchsmart 600-1155 model with similar hardware I don't see why I can't do the upgrade.
Thanks

Boring, we should be able to test one or the other
less practical to reinstall the original processor, in order to check if in this case it works or not.
but
Looking at the Touchsmart 600-1155 model with similar hardware I don't see why I can't do the upgrade.

Did you try with the original processor?
The graphics card may be damaged.

Yes I did try with original processor. Same issue with the screens cycle through colors. Tried with 720 processor Same thing. Without video card boots up fine. I'm not the only one that's had this issue trying to upgrade to an MXM video card on the 600-1120. Almost all forms I have read point to a possible bios issue or it not supporting it. But looking at the specs it should. Even the processor upgrade. But if u upgrade to 720 or 820 processor u will need the video card since those chips do not have intergrated gpu. The specs I've seen for this model show it will support but u might need to upgrade power supply, which is why I purchased the 150w power supply but no Joy wont boot same issue.

Here's a spec sheet for this model
https://content.abt.com/documents/28778/HP6001120_specs.pdf
Also the HP website gives you the specs for the the model with same motherboard supporting the video card and processor.

If it works without the graphics card
the problem is obviously, the graphics card, this removes the problem of processor, probably, and motherboard damaged, during the replacement!
Now either the graphics card is defective!
Either a problem of drivers, bios can be!
It seems that the computer is originally with windows 7, if you upgrade to windows 10 there may be a problem with driver compatibility?
there I can only give you possibilities, it would be necessary to be able to test this graphics card
As for the bios, I can't find the pages, it looks like we just have the specs page:
