HP Support Assistant may be trying to give you the wrong BIOS.  It has happened.

Certainly, if the message says the BIOS is wrong, do not try to force it onto your computer.

In general, it is always best to check your Software and Support Website - open the BIOS section - READ about any BIOS that is offered - then decide whether to install it on your computer.

For those reading:

HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)

HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)

For example:

HP ENVY 27-b100 All-in-One Desktop PC series

Select Category Software, Drivers & Firmware

Click open section BIOS

Select the BIOS for your ROM family

Click open the Details

Click open See full details

READ every section > Description, Fixes, Installation Instructions, and Revision history

Only after you are informed about as much as you can find about the subject should you consider updating the BIOS.

In general, unless you have a reason to do so (critical update, issues with computer), it is usually just best to leave the BIOS alone.
