Looking for a BIOS upgrade for this machine and OS.  It has one for Win 7 and 8 but not 10.  If a 10 upgrade is not available, can I use the 8 version safely?

@Bromelain,

Yes, for Windows 10 operating system there is no BIOS update. However, you can downgrade the OS to Windows 8 and then install the BIOS and then again update the operating system to Windows 10.

@Bromelain,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Are you facing any issues with the computer?

I don’t recommend you installing a Windows 8 BIOS update on a Windows 10 machine as it may create problems. If the BIOS update doesn’t get installed correctly then your computer will not boot to Windows.

Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

That is what I thought.  Should I presume that no Win 10 BIOS update is available?

The cure is worse than the disease.  Time for a new machine.  Thanks.

@Bromelain,

I absolutely agree with you. However, you can take a chance and try installing the BIOS what is available for Windows 8 without downgrading the operating system.

If any other questions arise, please feel free to write back to me.
