I'm upgrading the case on this and will be using the SilverStone CPF04 fan hub (hopefully) for the extra fans I'll be able to use.
I'm wondering if the system fan connector on the Basswood SSID 8399 is 4pin PWM?

Taking power from a SATA power plug does not compromise the motherboard. What matters is Amerage, it is mimimal. Hate to see a complete novice get into this situation. Your committed to this new case. When you get the power switch wired to the motherboard, please report back the exact wiring scheme you used. The fans I linked are only 3 pin fans, your controller is 4 pin. Good luck.

Thank you for a simple inquiry. It is 3 wire plug.

This the description from HP PartSurfer As mentioned here
BTW<> could you explain "upgrading the case"?
PS<> That SilverStone CPF04 fan hub is NOT an internal device. It lays outside the case.

Thank you, so I'm assuming the fan hub would not connect to the 3pin system fan connector as the connector for the hub is a PWM 4pin. I'm quite positive the hub is an internal device as it is sata powered directly from the psu and has pwm support which would require connecting to the motherboard(compatible ones). Can you confirm if the PWM 4pin connector could connect to the 3pin system fan header whilst losing its PWM properties and any fan plugged in would just run at its full rpm?
Edit: I'm very dim. I would just plug the hub into the psu and run the 3pin fans at full speed without a connection to the motherboard. Still curious if the system fan is PWM, however as there is quite the deal on 5 PWM 140mm fans for $30 currently, also about the case upgrade, sorry I glossed over that. What I mean is I currently get very hot temps on my gpu while gaming even though I'm managing it extensively on wattman, so I'm going to move the system into a more ventilated case with more fans and dust filters.

My Bad, so I called the company.
The device si attached with double sided tape, which you furnish. It has no mounting screws, and does not fit into a drive bay. IMHO, very cheezy. Video reviews are mixed. Some are not nice, at all.
Why the hub if you installing fans at full speed. Seems ackward?
ALERT:
You will have great difficulty re-wiring the front panel to accept a non-HP power switch.
The 5 fan deal you mentioned is here. Those are 3 pin fans, not 4.
WANT TO SAVE $$$$
You will need to inspect PSU leads. Might need an SATA power lead adapter.

I will probably rest the hub on the power supply shroud which wont look bad at all since they're both black and I won't be moving it once it gets in place. The case has 3 front fans which is more than the basswood 8399 can support (it supports only 1 system fan and 1 cpu fan).I chose this hub because using a splitter would probably cause problems because the power it would draw could mess something up on the motherboard. It also leaves room for upgradability if I ever change out the motherboard. It'll be truly tragic if I can't find a way to rig the power switch. I'll edit this with how that goes once I get the case in ~4-6 hours.
