HP Pro SFF 290 G9 Desktop PC (4N244AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, im new and I need help deciding which GPU can work best for my HP Pro SSF 290 G9 Desktop PC, I know that I can get the T400 and Rx 6300 and want to know which one would be better for gaming, etc or if there are any others that can work with my PC that I could get that isnt too expensive. Also, how would I install this to my specific PC?

Thank you for any help

PS: I have the intel graphics 730 integrated on it.

Hi @CuriousityMan

The GPU recommended by HP is the RX 6300, page 15 of the manual, you must put it in PCie 4x16 port.

So, is the RX 6300 better than the T400 for general/gaming?

Also,  what would be the best HDD + SSD to chose and where would they be placed?

Finally, whats the difference between the 3 layer ssd and the normal one?

Thanks in advance.

the RX 6300 is better for gaming, it is clear that SDD would be better than HDD, but you must buy the SATA cable, but as it has M.2 slot the best is a M.2 NVME disk.

 3 laye = TLC

nowadays they are all TLC disks, QLC disks exist, normal SLC and MLC disks are practically no longer sold by anyone.

It is compatible but it will go at a lower speed, it will go at half or less of that speed because the device is not PCIe 5
