Here is the link to the quickspecs for the dc7100.

The only processors that are supported are the ones on page 5.

I changed  to my old DC7100 a P4 651.  It had a P4 630 and Windows 7 64 bit.  In  a Youtube clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i2vwwchUiI) was W 10 32 bit installed to a DC7100. It has been commented

"I've managed to run 64-bit Windows 10 on same PC. All you need to do is swap the CPU into Pentium 4 Cedar Mill. Only D0 steppings Cedar Mill do work on this machine. CPUs with other steppings will not post! only beeping. I'm using this HP with Pentium 4 631 D0 stepping and 64-bit Win10 works like a charm. you can get Pentium 4 661 and it will probably run even better."

I tried that and it worked. I got a  P4 651 SL9KE with D0 stepping. I was curious if it would boot but it did. There was a 1801-Microcode Update Error but it booted after tapping F1. I was then able to install Win 10  64-bit and it worked, but it booted slow.  Windows 10 found almost all drivers but the audio driver needs to be seeked separately as Sound Max -driver. There was also another driver missing but I got it as I installed  a printer. As GPU it has a GeForce 9500 GT.It has two SSDs  (one with W7 and another with W10 as dual boot) and the old HDD. I seeked to find a fix to the 1801-error.  At last there was a simple solution: sp33315.  I had'n thought to that because sp33315 was already earlier installed. But after reading in sp33315 Release Document Details: "The Microcode Update ROMPAQ will only update the processor microcode, stored in the System BIOS, if the processor configuration requires it and the utility has the appropriate microcode" I decided to try it again. To manage sp33315 in Windows 10 or 7 I used instructions in this Youtube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCQYIUKfR-4 So to get the microcode for F65 there has to be a F65 cpu installed. Afterwards if somebody will upgrade a DC7100 from XP I would recommend to make a dual boot with XP and Win 7 or Win 10: executing sp33315 would be easier. Sp33315 fixed the 1801-error and the booting time (also as dual boot) is not long.

But using this old equipment raises the question if it would be possible to replace the microcode in sp33315 with the later one in Intel Processor Microcode Package for Linux* 20180425 Release (as Meltdown/Spectre fix). I would be grateful, if somebody  knows, how to do that.

Another thing  what I am wondering is, that HP support assistant only finds 2 GB memory while the bios and CPU-Z find 4 GB and Windows also (3,12 GB usable).
