Hi all, i have copied my HD incuded the partition on a new Samsung 870 QVO 1 TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) through an USB adapter, but then when i try to connect the new SSD to an internal Sata, either replacing the previous 3,5 HD or connecting it to the DVD sata, i could not start the system anyway in order to acces the Bios and select the SSD to start the system. I could use it only connecting it with the adapter to a USB 3.0 socket and selecting from the Bios the USB SSD to start the system. Have you got any suggestion on how to make it works connected to the internal Sata socket?
Tks in advance.

Hi @Winnie61
Welcome to the HP Forum.
You might have a HP PC that is finicky with certain 2.5 inch SATA SSD manufacturers. Its got to be a BIOS issue.
I don't believe you will get the MB to see the Samsung SSD when using the SATA interface.
I would suggest looking at Crucial SSDs (scroll down, select "Internal SSD") or check Amazon for HP SSDs. Crucial guarantees compatibility. A HP SATA SSD should work with a HP PC.
Frankly, I can't attest to a guaranteed result using either Crucial SATA SSDs or HP SATA SSDs.
I have seen this problem in this Forum before. Never got any feedback referencing a successful upgrade using a Crucial SATA SSD or a HP SATA SSD.
Regards

Hi Bill, muck thanks for yr tips, even if i hoped there would be a solution 😐 . What about using the SSD as external HD for the system through the usd 3 socket? Would it be too slow at that stage and unusefull?

Hi @Winnie61
My pleasure.
Yes, you could use the Samsung SSD with a SATA SSD to USB 3 adapter as an external data drive.
I use this method to create offline system image backups.
Data transfer rates are reasonable.
Then, if you don't like it, try a HP or a Crucial SATA SSD.
Let the Forum know if either SSD works if you try one.
