Hi, I have an older Hp motherboard, the IPIBL-LB revision 1.01
I had an older dual core in it and am trying to put a q9400 in it.
however it wont boot with the q9400, so im assuming I need to update the bios, but cannot find any downloads anywhere.
My current version is 5.21
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Your PC is 10 years old so I don't think that HP is going to keep materials around forever.
BIOS level 5.43 was the latest released for the Bencia motherboard. It appears that the information for your specific PC product model may have be archived. I did find a Bencia 5.43 BIOS update for a different model but it's tied to the HP specific VISTA installer.
Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps.

I mean the size of a bios file is pretty insigifnicant so I wouldn't understand why, but I understand also why they wouldn't care.
Resetting the Cmos does not change the bios, it's still 5.21.
In any event, I'm just trying to get it compatible to run a Q9400 in it, so any bios for that will work.
Alternatively, do you know of a compatible cpu list for just that bios? I know that's specific info to ask for, but I really am coming up dry with results.

Hi,
You can search the support site for and see if you can find 5.43 for the Benicia motherboard. It's risky since it's not posted for your particular model.
The Q9400 Y (yorkfield) is a 1333 Mhz FSB processor. Make sure that your dimms are spec'd correctly to get the best performance increase from this processor.
