Hello! I recently bought this pc off marketplace to play games and I'm trying to upgrade some of the components so that it runs smoother. I bought new ram off amazon that hold 32 gb total instead of the 16 gb. First the Pc wouldn't fully turn on and after some online research I saw that It might just be because I need to update BIOS. This is my first try. However, when I go to update bios, the update button is blocked off stating "this is an older version of bios which is not compatible with your system configuration". The newest update that I can download off the HP website is from 2019 and I can see that my current bios is from 2017 so now I'm stuck and confused.

Greetings @Zerovanta0308

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I don't know your PC's Product number. I can't check for a compatible BIOS update.

Please provide the new memory modules' specs.

Memory Upgrade:

I'm thinking your PC does not like the new memory modules.

Older HP PC are very finicky when it comes to memory modules. I don't believe a successful BIOS update is going to fix the new memory upgrade problem.

I can only suggest trying Crucial Memory.

Use the Crucial Memory scanner or manually input your PC's product number.

I have never seen a Forum member report a Crucial memory upgrade POST problem. The Crucial memory may run at JEDEC speed and timings but it works.

Crucial guarantees memory compatibility.

BIOS Update Problem:

I have seen the error you are getting. You might be downloading an incorrect BIOS update for your PC's MB

The MB SSID must match the BIOS update SSID.

Or maybe the downloaded BIOS file may be corrupted.

Reinstall the HP factory memory so the PC is usable.

Check the BIOS update MB SSID against your PC's MB SSID. Download the BIOS update again if the MB SSIDs match.

Regards
