Blocked side ventilation grid

HP Pavilion 15-rb024nc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a 15" Pavilion laptop and I wonder why is the side ventilation hole blocked by some piece of plastic placed inside the chasis (as in the picture).IMG_20190417_125140.jpgblocked vent grid

Is it there for purpose? There is no other ventilation window where the hot air could flow.

What is this plastic block?

Regards

Jon

Hi Jon,

I believe your model is a fanless model. It has a low power CPU. So what you actually see blocking the air vent is part of the heatsink.

You can see on page64 of service manual.

Hope it helps,

Thank you, David, I hear some whispering sound when I switch the laptop on so it must be from the HDD then. Regards Jon

You're welcome Jon.

You could upgrade to an SSD and all sound will be gone. The song " the sound of silence comes to mind" 🙂

All the best,

David
