HP Slim Desktop PC S01-aF2000i (52Z17AV)

I'd like to get a blu-ray writer for my PC. Can I get a model recommendation?

@JohnK64,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Personally, I would recommend an external Blu-ray writer.  That way, once you buy/use/switch to a different desktop/laptop, you'll have a unit that is transferable.

Here is one recommendation: Amazon.com: ASUS Powerful Blu-ray Drive with 16x Writing Speed and USB 3.0 for Both Mac/PC Optical D....

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

I know about external drives. I didn't ask about external drives. I don't know how much more SIMPLE I can make my question. I don't know why this is so hard to find through HP.

@JohnK64,

You could have made your question more SPECIFIC, like asking for an INTERNAL drive.  You didn't ask for an internal drive -and I quote: "I'd like to get a blu-ray writer for my PC. Can I get a model recommendation?"

I wouldn't need any help selecting or installing an external drive. I just need to know what model of blu-ray writer internal drives work with my PC. I found the interactive part locator for the HP Slim Desktop S01-aF0000. Is the aF0000 the same as S01-aF2000i in regards to upgrades, because the manual shows a picture of the exact model of hard drive I have from my old PC.

@JohnK64,

Information is challenging to come by.  Gleaning from what is known, and looking at pictures of both the HP Slim Desktop S01-aF2000 and the HP Slim Desktop PC S01-aF0000, they appear to have similar -if not the same components, such as the same Bohemia motherboard (SSID: 8648) with the same Intel BGA socket, even though the aF2000 model's motherboard is labeled "BohemiaRP", whereas the aF0000 series motherboard is labeled "BohemiaCR".

Point is, I would expect that whatever part fits in an HP Slim Desktop S01-aF0000, would be compatible in an HP Slim Desktop S01-aF2000.  At least, to the best of my knowledge/experience with HP.

Thanks. Why is information hard to come by?

@JohnK64,

An excellent question.  One we (Forum community members) have asked for a long time. Short answer: if sufficient time and resources had been spent in creating a comprehensive, up-to-date and easy-to-navigate database, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Here's a nice link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHl7BIuH1NU

It shows the HP Slim Desktop PC S01-pF2000i, which is essentially my model and how to open the case and how to do upgrades. Thankfully, this PC has the sata cables installed and waiting. I put my old hard drive in the case and it booted right up. No problems. AND I got a good pic of the memory card so I can just buy a 16 gig memory card.

Still not sure what blu-ray writer to install but this is a nice step up.
