Here is the link to the driver page.

HP Slimline Desktop - 290-a0046 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

The PC comes with a standard 3.5" SATA hard drive according to the specs link below.

HP Slimline Desktop - 290-a0046 Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

The motherboard specs indicate that it has a M.2 slot to support a SSD.

However, here is no information available as to which type of M.2 2280 SSD is supported...NVMe or SATA.

The Crucial memory report does not indicate NVMe SSD's are supported and they don't make M.2 SATA SSDs anymore which is why they only show 2.5" SATA SSDs as an option for your PC.

Hi:

HP seems to be having an issue with the support page for your PC.

I found it but it gives me an error that states in substance, 'We're sorry. We can't seem to find the page you were looking for.

Try again later.'

Tried several different links to no avail.

This problem seems to be happening too frequently lately and it is frustrating when we try to help forum members such as you.

Try again in a couple of hours and hopefully it will show up again.

essentially the page I've been looking for

the cpu seem it would be quick enough

this machine needs a SSD but I guess I will have to look to see if M1 OR HARD DISC CONNECTOR

add some memory I think it will take a 16 gb stick

decrap and defrag   would like to check for driver updates ,  run MBAM etc

transfer the os to ssd

for voluntary community group so trying to avoid a whole new system

no idea if they run windows update

Thanks  I could now also get to the drivers page

I will make some notes on my home computer then go to the victim and run some tests and start the clean up

take the case off this laptop without a screen and peek at the innards

You're very welcome.

If you wanted to install a M.2 SATA SSD (check to confirm your PC has the M.2 slot like the motherboard specs indicate), there is a Western Digital Blue SA510 SATA SSD that should work:

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s,...

Takes SATA not PCIe or NVMe

thanks for the heads up on Amazon

have not cracked the case yet but spec sheet says 1TB Hard drive which is way overkill for their applications]

maybe use it for backup

any recommendation on Cloning software

I've used Macrim

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

That's what I would use.

Unfortunately, Macrium is no longer free, but you can use the trial version for 30 days, and you should be able to clone the drive.

Just don't install it until you are ready to use it.

I have a Macrim subscription

Found that only 6Mbs drive is supported not PCIe or NVM

should gets pars ordered today and install Christmas vacation

thanks again
