Hello. I think I need to consider replacing my optical drive on my HP 590-p0054. All it does when inserting a cd is buzz intermittently, then stops. CD never loads. I've tried numerous troubleshooting steps I found on the internet. None has worked. Can't even run a cd cleaning disc. The drive is recognized in Device Manager, BIOS, and listed with other system drives. So, I think a replacement is necessary. I got the part number off of the drive; 849055-6C3. Any suggestions where I could get one? Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve my drive issue? Any help with this is greatly appreciated. PC is HP Pavilion 590-p0054, running Win 10 64-bit.

Hi:
Below is the link to the parts list for your PC:
The DVD drive HP part number is:
853885-800 |
DVD - GNRC, ODD DVDSM 9.5 Slim Tray RAZR
|
I see some for sale on eBay.
You may have to remove the bezel from the current drive and install it on the replacement drive.

Is it difficult to remove the bezel? Is there any instructions on how to remove/replace the bezel? One other question, based on what I posted, is there any way to fix the drive? Or is it best to replace it? I don't want to risk damaging my pc trying to get it to work.

Unfortunately I wouldn't know how difficult it would be to remove the bezel.
You can see if there are any YouTube videos on the internet that show how to remove the bezel.
Usually it's attached with plastic clips.
If the drive had been working fine and quit working, then it's probably irreparable.
