My CMOS clock stopped working properly. It even goes BACKWARDS on occasions.
I checked for viruses and malware with my resident antivirus program. It came out clean. The battery was changed earlier this year when I had a major service and my operating system was upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit the same time.
After I experienced problems, I Googled it and was directed to check my system information where I found that a setting was set to manual clock update. I change this to automatic and the error properties to automatic restart the clock on any errors. It still behaves erratic. I also found out that the BIOS was last updated in 2015!
I need a link to update the BIOS to the latest version, even if it is only 2016 or 2017... That would hopefully solve the problem...

You can
(a) set it up to use internet clock or
(b) change RTC (Real Time Clock) or CMOS mattery.
For (a): Is your machine under a Domain ? If not, please use the following method (for Windows 7)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01927504
For (b): A normal, standard CR3032, you can find it nearly every shops which sell batteries. The following article may help
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/bph04375
Please do both and you don't need to do again in 3 to 5 years time.
Regards.
