Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I get a CPU fan error when the computer boots. After I get up and running, the CPU fan turns on goes off about every 7 seconds. I tried loading the latest BIOS and restarted computer (as suggested by HP).  The problem still exists. I have run many of the diagnostics but no problems were found. Is there a way to test the fan? Should I simply replace the fan? I do not see any dust inside the desktop. Any help would be appreciated.

replace the fan, simply look on the existing fan and note the numbers on it which will id the fan model and specs

go to ebay, amazon, new egg, local computer shop and enter those numbers for a exact or equivlent replacement fan

Thanks for the reply. I did replace the fan only.  I have not had problems since. Desktop is quieter then ever.

glad to help, note that most times a fan will fail due to dry/seized berrings,  that make turing the fan blades"stiff" but sometimes like in your case the electronics in the fan go bad
