HP 280 G2 Microtower PC
Microsoft Windows 11

I wish to upgrade my HP 280 G2 MT.

I have three questions.

Does the 2B5E motherboard support Kaby Lake Processor ( i7-7700 )?

What is the maximum capacity of RAM 16GB or 32GB for this motherboard?

What GPU will be the best so that it wont be bottlenecked by my motherboard and its maximum processor supported ?

@PareshL,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP 280 G2 Microtower as fitted with the HP motherboard 2B5E can be fitted with up to 2x16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks, which will down-throttle "bridge" to 2133 MHz.

Your PC is only compatible with Intel Core 6th-gen processors, the i7-6700K being your very best option.

@PareshL,

There are two HP stock power supplies available for your PC: a 180-watt and a 300-watt power supply.

Depending what power supply you got AND what your budget is, I could suggest some graphics cards options.

However, the HP 280 G2 Microtower uses a standard ATX power supply, so you can use any ATX-compatible PSU.

I have already installed a 600 Watt PSU, if I am to go for 16GB RAM and i7-6700, which (mid-range/budget) NVIDIA GPU will be the best fit, that wont be bottled necked?
