Hi,
I am trying to grade an HP Wave 600-a009 from the stock i3-6700T to a i7-6700T and have no luck. I have noticed that there is only one BIOS for the a009, while the other Wave models seem to have more recent BIOS updates? That being said I do have the lastest BIOS. The system does not post when I put in the i7-6700T (fan is hooked up). The unit does power up (fan starts , power LED is lit), but it doesn't give me any video to show if the BIOS would recognize the new CPU.. meaning I get no post messages or audbile signs that it is not liking the processor. I have looked at the HP specs for this model and it does clearly show that the processor can be i3, i5 and i7 in the 6700T series. Is there something specific I need to do on the MB? I have removed the CMOS battery , reset the CMOS etc...
Any help is welcomed.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi,
Boot up with the good processor and check the BIOS level. Open up a command prompt (admin) and enter: MSINFO32
Look at the BIOS level and date. What BIOS level is your PC running?
The latest BIOS level posted for your PC is F.11.

Thanks for the reply!
Now this is a wierd one.... It is telling me the BIOS version is F.31 05/31/2017? SMIBIOS 2.8 , BIOS Mode UEFI.
Not sure if that is correct. The BIOS is telling me 81C9 which is the correct version but it also says vf.31 with a date of 05/31/2017. Not sure what is going on as the Hp assistant got the lastest and I upgraded it the other day...
Thanks,
Dan

I am not surprised. I have mentioned many times to HP to better coordinate and synchronize updates between HPSA and the servers. HP has been rolling out new BIOS updates that cover a number of security issues.
Make sure that you didn't knock something loose on the mothrboard when installing the new processor. You might want to remove the processor and check it and the socket for damage. Use a magnifying glass and a flash light. Rechek all of your connections.
Perhaps the new processor is DOA but that is only about .9% of the cases for brand new processors. Used processors are a different story.

Thanks Big Dave.
Did all that and the new CPU appears to be ok. The socket on 600-a009 is fine as I can still use the i3-6700T. The last thing is checking to see if the i7 -6700T is DOA. It's coming from a Dell 24" AIO which I don't have the power adapter at the moment, but once I get it I will check the i7 in that unit. If it does the same then I would assume it is DOA. I will update when I get the power adapter.
Thanks,
Dan
